It’s possible that electricity, telephone and water may be cut off for days.

__ Water, one gallon of water per person per day for at least three days, for drinking and sanitation

__ Food, at least a three-day supply of non-perishable food

__ Manual can opener for food

__ Battery-powered or hand crank radio and a NOAA Weather Radio with tone alert and extra batteries for both

__ Flashlight and extra batteries (avoid candles)

__ First aid kit

__ Medication and other special need items

__ Whistle to signal for help

__ Dust mask to help filter contaminated air and plastic sheeting and duct tape to shelter-in-place

__ Moist towelettes, garbage bags and plastic ties for personal sanitation

__ Wrench or pliers to turn off utilities

__ Local maps

__ Cell phone with chargers, inverter or solar charger

__ Fire extinguisher

__ Infant formula and diapers if you have a baby

__ Pet supplies

__ Cash or traveler’s checks and change

__ Fuel for Cars/Boats and Emergency Generators

__ Complete change of clothing including a long sleeved shirt, long pants, jacket and sturdy shoes.

__ Personal hygiene items

__ Tools

__ Matches in a waterproof container

__ Paper and Pencil

__ Books, games, puzzles or other activities for children

__ Important family documents such as copies of insurance policies, identification and bank account records in a waterproof, portable container.
