From Armando Pereira, President, Fishers Island Utility Company

July 1, 2026

Dear Islanders,

Summer is here, and I hope you and your families are enjoying everything that makes Fishers Island such a special place.

As we move through the busy season, I want to share a few updates and observations from the Utility Company. My goal is simple: to keep our electric, water, and communications systems safe, reliable, and ready to serve the community year-round.

Over the past several months, our team has been focused on maintaining and strengthening the infrastructure that supports daily life on the Island. Much of this work happens behind the scenes, but it is essential to providing dependable service during the summer months when demand is at its highest.

I want to recognize the dedication of our employees. Whether they are responding to outages, maintaining water systems, inspecting equipment, or preparing for storms, they work every day to keep critical services operating safely and reliably. Their commitment to the Island does not stop on weekends, holidays, or during difficult weather, and I am grateful for their efforts.

As we enjoy the season, I also encourage everyone to do their part to help protect our community resources.

  • Use water wisely, especially during periods of high demand. Minimize lawn irrigation whenever possible, take advantage of rainfall.
  • Be mindful of utility equipment and rights-of-way when landscaping or undertaking construction projects. Call before you dig.
  • Stay prepared for summer storms by ensuring you know how to report outages and receive emergency updates:
FISHERS ISLAND UTILITY COMPANY: (631) 788-7251
AFTER HOURS OUTAGE PEPORTING: (844) 461-5722

Looking ahead, we remain focused on reliability, safety, and responsible stewardship of our utilities. We will continue investing in infrastructure, improving operations, and planning for the future so these services remain dependable for generations to come.

I wish you and your families a safe, enjoyable, and memorable summer.

All the best,

Armando Pereira
